What is flatulence?

Excess of gas in abdomen, it can manifest in different forms

  • Belching: Act of expelling air from the stomach through the mouth
  • Bloating: A condition where your belly feels full And tight, often due togas
  • Flatus: Passing intestinal gas from the digestive system through the anus.

How does gas form in the body ?

  • Normally 800-900 ml gas formed in our intestine daily
  • It is produced by either from bacteria inside our intestine or comesthrough mouth
  • Too much gas can be produced when you consume certain foods likelentils, broccoli, cabbage,cauliflower, fructose used in soft drinks,prunes,carbonated drinks, beer, onions, wheat etc

When should we worry about gas ?

RED FLAG SIGNS

➔ Vomiting

➔ Fever

➔ Weight loss

➔ Nocturnal diarrhea

➔ Severe pain abdomen

➔ Loss of appetite

➔ ETC

How to manage gas ?

Be physically active, do regular exercise.

Manage your stress by yoga, meditation.

Quit smoking and fizzy

drinks Eat well:

Eat slowly, chew properly

Avoid : lentils, broccoli, cabbage,cauliflower, fructose used in soft drinks, prunes,carbonated drinks, beer, onions, wheat, processed foods

Include : ginger,cinnamon, cumin, coriander, fennel, jeera, ajwain, pudina etc
